POSTPONED DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER, ALTERNATIVE DATE TO BE DETERMINED
On the other side of the curb: A quick primer on streetscape design elements for engineering professionals.
Using Raleigh as a case study, we will review streetscape design standards, rules of thumb, and the new opportunities presented with high-frequency transit. Topics will include policy, code & regulation, definition of zones, and Streetscape Plans.
Roberta MK Fox has over 20 years experience practicing architecture, landscape architecture, and urban design for both private and public-sector projects with a special focus on strategic planning, project delivery, transportation architecture, and the people-centered spaces around them.
Roberta has left her mark on the transportation and social infrastructure of communities in Seattle, WA, Vancouver, BC, Washington DC, and most recently in Raleigh, NC where she served as the Assistant Director of City Planning and Principal Urban Designer at the Raleigh Urban Design Center. In this role, she influenced public space policy and design through a series of signature projects, including urban plazas, private use of public space regulation, community-focused/community-developed plans, and most notably Raleigh Union Station, a district-wide multimodal project she led from inception through implementation.
