This is the first installment of our new series titled Conversations In Transportation, where NCSITE President Dr. Joe Hummer will discuss the transportation topics of today with guests from across the industry spectrum.

We will discuss the recent report of the NC First Commission, which Mr. Nye co-chairs, on the future of transportation funding in North Carolina.

About Ward Nye:
C. Howard ("Ward") Nye has served as Chairman of the Board at Martin Marietta since 2014, as President since 2006 and as CEO and a Director since 2010. He also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of General Dynamics Corporation, a global aerospace and defense company. Mr. Nye is a past Chairman of the Board of the Natonal Stone, Sand & Gravel Associaton (NSSGA); he presently serves as Senior Vice Chairman of the Board of the American Road and Transportaton Builders Associaton (ARTBA). Mr. Nye is also a member of the Board of Directors of the United States Chamber of Commerce, the world’s largest business organizaton, and Chairman of the North Carolina Chamber. Mr. Nye received a Bachelor’s degree from Duke University and a Law degree from Wake Forest University. Ward and his wife, Laura, reside in Raleigh, North Carolina. They have been married more than 30 years and have three grown children.
