Contribution to Transportation Award
Recipient is an individual or organization not affiliated with NCSITE who has contributed significantly to transportation through professional and/or political activities.
2015 Award Winner: NC Chamber of Commerce
On behalf of the NCSITE Board of Directors, Members, and Affiliates, Terry Snow, Strategic Initiatives Committee Chair, presented the 2015 Contribution to Transportation Award to the NC Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber has strongly supported efforts to increase revenue for transportation funding particularly during the North Carolina General Assembly’s recent legislative session and that support is clearly evidenced in part by a mixed media advertising campaign at substantial cost borne by contributions from the Chamber’s member throughout North Carolina. The General Assembly passed a budget which was signed by Governor Pat McCrory and included increased funding for transportation. The NC Chamber of Commerce led the Coalition for a Prosperous Future, which NCSITE is a founding member. This Coalition was instrumental in advocating for transportation funding reform. The NC Chamber was on the tip of the spear in this grass roots effort.
To highlight the NC Chamber’s efforts, Gary Salamido, Vice President of Government Affairs delivered an informative keynote address at NCSITE’s Annual Meeting which highlighted the Coalition’s actions. NCSITE honors and thanks the NC Chamber of Commerce for its passion and partnership for better transportation solutions for North Carolina’s future.
