The Transportation Planning Council (TPC) is focused on developing fellowship, transportation planning-related training, and networking opportunities for NCSITE members and members of the North Carolina transportation community. Also, we look for ways to provide mentor opportunities to students as well as chances for students to present their research.

Some of the TPC's major initiatives include:

  • Schedule and conduct local meetings;

  • Sponsor the transFORUM luncheon series;

  • Recruit and retain NCSITE members through technical training and social interaction;

  • Schedule and conduct the NCSITE Mid-Year Meeting and technical sessions; and

  • Assist the Traffic Engineering Council with planning the NCSITE Annual Meeting.

2010 Goals

The Transportation Planning Council (TPC) meets on the 2nd Wednesday of every month to develop a planning-related program for the year. The TPC promotes NCSITE in the planning community through workshops, meetings, and luncheons.

The goals for the year include:

  • Hold monthly TPC organizational meetings with a Social Hour following the meeting or technical presentation offered;

  • Support the student chapters and their efforts;

  • Organize and sponsor several Triangle- and Charlotte-area transFORUM luncheons (with leadership from Caroline Kone and Terry Arellano);

  • Organize and sponsor a Triangle-area transFORAY mobile tour;

  • Schedule, conduct, and develop the technical agenda for the NCSITE Mid-Year meeting;

  • Develop the planning track of the Annual Meeting and provide support to
    the Traffic Engineering Council; and

  • Hold at least one joint TPC-TEC organizational meeting and social event.

The Committee for People Who Want to Make NCSITE Funner and Other Good Things Like That

The Committee for People Who Want to Make NCSITE Funner
and Other Good Things Like That
(CPWWMNCSITEFOGTLT or the Make It Funner Committee)
was created and loosely established in an effort to remind NCSITE members
that it's not all about PDHs, LOSs, SOPs, and other TLAs,
but also BFFs, LOLs, SOBs, OMGs,
PBRs and sometimes getting OOO (out of the office).
Join us for official MAKE IT FUNNER events like
the transPOURtainment member socials, and unofficial events
that occur completely spontaneously (you had to be there).
