Terry Hopkins Announces NCDOT Retirement

After 30 years of dedicated service to the North Carolina Department of Transportation and the citizens of North Carolina, Terry M. Hopkins, PE has decided to retire effective June 1, 2016.

Terry began her career with the Department in Roadway Design as a temporary Engineering Aide prior to graduation. Once she graduated from N. C. State, she was accepted onto the Engineering Associates Program, and then settled in with the Traffic Control Section. From then on, the Traffic Engineering Branch (now Transportation Mobility & Safety Division) became her home and she successfully worked her way up from various positions to her current position as the State Traffic Safety Engineer.

Terry’s experience, knowledge, leadership, (and baked goods) will truly be missed, but we understand her desire to spend more time with Joey and their boys, so we gladly wish her a wonderful retirement!

To celebrate Terry’s retirement, a reception will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Amelia Christian Church Fellowship Hall, 1696 Amelia Church Road in Clayton. We hope you will plan to attend this special event as co-workers, family, and friends gather to wish Terry a happy retirement.

Note:  Terry’s coworkers will be putting together a small booklet of “Good Wishes” and “Congratulations” for Terry.   There will be blank pages at the retirement reception, or if you want to email your congratulations note to Jackie Johnson to make sure the note is placed in the booklet. Whether you plan to attend Terry’s reception on May 24th, and especially if you cannot go, please take a few minutes to write Terry a personal note and sign it so she will have something special to take with her from her co-workers and friends.

For anyone that would like to contribute towards a gift, please send your donations by May 20, 2016 to Jackie Johnson, Traffic Safety Unit, 1561 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, NC 27699-1561. Checks should be made out to “Traffic Engineering Branch.”
